Universal Exposition or Expo is the third largest event in the world in terms of economic and cultural impact, after the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games. This exposition influences the development of several aspects of society including arts and design education, international trade and relations, science and technology development and even tourism. Shanghai Expo 2010 is the first city in China to
hold the universal exposition.
The theme of the exposition in 2010 is “Better City − Better Life”. It signifies Shanghai's new status in the 21st century as a major economic and cultural centre. The Expo will take place from 1st May to 31st October, 2010. The mascot of the Expo is “Haibao”, which means the treasure of the sea. The name of Haibao echoes with the colour of its body. He is embracing friends from all over the world with his arms and confident smile. three people (you, me and him/her) holding hands together, symbolizes the big family of mankind.
Our exhibition consists of three parts:
1. Origin of the International Expo
2. Past official world expositions
3. Shanghai Expo 2010 and its benefits to
China.
In the exhibition, a hand-made clock will be unveiled to mark the countdown of the Expo 2010 in our special countdown ceremony. Besides, a graphical representation of the transition of past Expos will also be presented. Through this exhibition, we aim at demonstrating our students’ national and global outlooks and their enthusiasm in reaching out to fathom major global events.
