Principal’s Message

You are cordially invited to come and visit our school on our Annual Open Day from 28th to 29th March 2009 to find out more about the life at The Chinese Foundation Secondary School.

An occasion of significance for our staff and students we will be showing our facilities and equipment, explaining our works, elaborating our projects and offering performances and guided tours. During the Open Day, you will have the chance to talk to members of staff, parents and to meet students who will also show you the School through their eyes.

Currently the catchphrase in almost every school banner is preparation for the New Senior Secondary curriculum. However, our school has quite a number of unique features in our new curriculum design. Instead of allaying public concern about Liberal Studies, we have been focusing on building a firm foundation at the junior level. While the whole city is jumping on the business and finance bandwagon, we put efforts in maintaining a healthy balance between science, business and arts. With general consensus among stakeholders, we seek to keep a good balance between academic pursuits and co-curricular activities, the latter being meticulously planned and implemented for educational objectives that underpin successful character development of our students. Endeavouring to enhance the chance of exposure in interschool and community activities, we begin to reap the fruit of success in academic, sports and multi-disciplinary areas.

2009 is the year when we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of our Peoples’ Republic of China. To realize our objective of “being rooted in Chinese culture” together with an objective of honing skills in self-learning, we arrange our students to prepare a thematic exhibition on the historic development of our Motherland over the past sixty years. Besides looking back with reflection we also make efforts to inspire our students to be ahead of time. Expo 2010 Shanghai prompts us to have a great deal to look forward to the festival. With all the above presentations, we cannot afford to let visitors overlook our students’ achievements and school work.

Catering to different tastes and preferences, we hope you will find in our School exactly what you want to know about, get a feel for us and look forward to meeting you on the day. Once more let me extend our warmest welcome to the guests and wish all the visitors of the festival a most enjoyable time.
