Eastern District Office "National Two Sessions Spirit Sharing Session"

School Principal Ho Tik-shun, in his capacity as Vice-chairman of the Education Sub-group of the Hong Kong Island East Area Fire Safety Committee and a member of the Youth Community Building Committee, attended the "National Two Sessions Spirit Sharing Session" on Monday, 30 March. The session was jointly organised by the Hong Kong East District Community Association (EDCA), the Eastern District Committee of the Hong Kong Island Federation, with the Eastern District Office serving as the supporting unit. Sharing guests included Mr. Henry Lai Tsz-hin, District Officer of Eastern District; Legislative Council Members Mr. Stanley Ng Chau-pei and Mr. Michael Lee Chun-keung; Mr. So Cheung-wing, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Mr. Wan Chun-man, President of the Hong Kong East Federation; and Mr. Lau Hing-yeung, Eastern District Councillor, among others.

Looking back at the nation's development journey, since the launch of the First Five-Year Plan in 1953, China's economy has experienced sustained and steady growth. Through seventy years of effort, the country has peacefully caught up with and surpassed the economic development progress of Europe and the United States, which took over two to three centuries. It is firmly advancing towards becoming a great modern socialist country and promoting national rejuvenation through a Chinese path to modernisation.

Currently, the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), with high-quality development at its core, focuses on three major directions:

- Developing new quality productive forces and achieving technological self-reliance, accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system, and promoting the "AI+" initiative;

- Green and low-carbon transformation, along with expanding domestic demand, strengthening the real economy, and ensuring security in key areas;

- Deepening reforms and integrating Hong Kong and Macao into the broader national development strategy, including accelerating the development of the Northern Metropolis, ushering in a new era of Hong Kong's transition "from chaos to governance and prosperity."

Through the full implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan, Hong Kong will further leverage its unique advantages and work together with the nation to realise the grand blueprint of Chinese modernisation.
