Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, Secretary for Education, Visits CFSS to Endorse Life Planning Education

Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, JP, Secretary for Education, visited The Chinese Foundation Secondary School (CFSS) on Tuesday, 2nd June, to gain an in-depth understanding of the school’s life planning education policies and to participate in various related activities. The visit reaffirmed the school’s achievements in home-school collaboration and whole-person development.

Upon arrival, Dr. Choi joined a career sharing session led by an art therapist and experienced an art therapy activity firsthand. She learned how creative media can help students explore their emotions and relieve stress. She then attended a session on the career of Chinese medicine practitioners, where students demonstrated basic skills in herbal medicine, including ingredient identification and simple preparation techniques, showcasing the school’s practical approach to diverse career exploration.

Dr. Choi later engaged in a roundtable discussion with senior secondary students. The students enthusiastically shared their experiences and gains from previous life planning activities, such as the Career Expo Human Library, overseas education tours, and the “CFSS Sing and Shine” community event. Through these experiences, they learned more about themselves, built self-confidence, and connected their interests with future career paths. The Secretary commended the students’ reflective abilities and the school’s systematic planning.

Accompanied by School Supervisor Ms. Marina Wong and Principal Mr. Ho Tik Shun, Dr. Choi toured the school library and the Science & Sustainable Development Resource Centre. The library featured student-led reading promotion activities, while the Resource Centre focused on green technology and interdisciplinary learning, reflecting CFSS’s commitment to innovation and sustainability education.

Dr. Choi’s visit not only affirmed the school’s dedication to life planning education but also encouraged teachers and students to further strengthen home-school-community collaboration, opening up more diverse pathways for student growth. CFSS will continue to enhance its curriculum and activities to nurture the next generation with global vision, empathy, and lifelong learning capabilities.
