7 CFSS Students Were Awarded the Outstanding Campers in 2014 National College Science Camp held in Tsinghua University
2014 National Youth College Science Camp was organized by Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and China Association for Science and Technology, hosted by Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association and Hong Kong Student Activities Committee and supported by Education Bureau of Hong Kong, Home Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong, Innovation and Technology Commission of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation. 10610 high school students from different regions in China visited renowned universities in China acquiring scientific knowledge, interacting with professors and experiencing universities' school life in advance.
Totally 10 CFSS students visited Tsinghua University together with 400 high school mainland students for 6 days. Our students lived in a student dormitory, experiencing graduate life there. There were 3 sessions a day, with series of lessons and activities in the daytime and group discussion in the evening.
The activities included:
1. Master Talk
Inspirational Talk: Renowned professors held inspiring lectures and seminars to share their experience on personal growth and successful criteria, giving precious advices to youngsters on the path of science research.
Forefront Talk: Experts from technology, humanities, social sciences interpreted the hot issues from a popular science perspective in order to enhance the technological literacy and cultural knowledge of the students.
2. "I-talk" Exchange Salon This Salon invited several outstanding undergraduates and postgraduates in Tsinghua to share their experience with students on their research and innovation activities.
3. "IF (Innovation Future)" Student Innovation Exhibition Students presented their personal research or innovation works in the public. Professors and postgraduates from Tsinghua also gave feedback to those students.
4. "Into the Laboratory" Investigative Study Students explored in the laboratory of Tsinghua University. Professors explained to them how the University fostered Science research.
5. Experiencing Technology Student visited China Science and Technology Museum which widen students’ horizons on advanced technology and its application in the society.
6. Innovation Show After attending lessons from their pre-selected classes, students were guided by Tsinghua postgraduates to present a topic with creative design with fruitful feedback and discussion from the audience.
After days of efforts, our students Chan Ho Wan (4A), Chow Kin Chun (4A) were awarded the title “Star of Talent”, while Wong Wai Lik (3A), Chan Cheyenne Dominique Chong (4A), Chan Ka Lun (4A), Kiu Kwan Shing (4A) and Wong Yi Lam (4C) were rated as “Outstanding Campers”.
