CFSS Seizing 9 Medals in the 29th China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest

Our students’ talents in scientific research are once again recognized in the 29th China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest (CASTIC) in Beijing in August 2014.

The Contest is the largest national science competition for secondary and primary school students. It provides a platform for adolescents to compete in fields of natural sciences, engineering and mathematics. Students have valuable opportunities to present their research projects to people from all over the country, and to share experiences with hundreds of other teenagers.

After having qualified to be part of the HKSAR delegation in March 2014, 3 of our students Lui Min Xi (2B), Fung Hing Lun (5A) and Lau Cheuk Nam (5A) fine-tuned their projects and headed for Beijing in August. Within a week in Beijing, students not only presented their projects to judges and the public, but also took part in 2 written tests. Although the competition was demanding, our students gained valuable exposure and friendship with people around the country.

The 3 students were lucky enough to have their talent and effort recognized in the prize presentation ceremony. They also had a chance to listen to an inspiring speech from the guest of honor, Li Yuanchao, Vice President of the People's Republic of China.

Together with 5 prizes obtained by other peers earlier, CFSS achieved a record high of 9 awards in the competition after the “School of Distinction” honour last year.

The School persists in promoting the popular culture of science and innovation to students. It is hoped that the knowledge and skills they learn can benefit the generation in their lifetime.
